State postulate

State postulate

It states that

“All thermodynamic properties can be determined if two independent thermodynamic properties are given”.

 Example : Temperature can be determined if P and V are known
T =  T(P,V)

It is also stated as the following.

“Two independent intensive thermodynamic properties are sufficient to establish a stable thermodynamic property”.

For example : Temperature can be determined if P and V are known.
T = T(P,V)
