State postulate
It states that
“All thermodynamic properties can be determined if two independent thermodynamic properties are given”.
Example : Temperature can be determined if P and V are knownT = T(P,V)
It is also stated as the following.
“Two independent intensive thermodynamic properties are sufficient to establish a stable thermodynamic property”.
For example : Temperature can be determined if P and V are known.
T = T(P,V)
