Section 4
Many IELTS Candidate are troubled by IELTS Listening section 4. This is because of various reasons. Here, in this post, I will discuss abou the cause of these problems.
IELTS Listening section 4 is generally a lecture or a monologue. It can about any topic. But, the most basic thing everyone needs to know is SIGNPOSTS.
SIGN POST WORDS are the words or phrases that are used to indicate certain stage in speech.
- To give example : For instance, For example, A good example of this, etc.
- To add more ideas : Moreover, Furthermore, In addition etc.
- To show sequence : Firstly, First of all, In the first place, secondly, after that, afterwards, in the next step, to add more, subsequently, consequently
These words clearly indicate different stages of lecture. Everyone should pay a close attention to the sign post words to guide themselves or align themselves with the question booklet.
Note that, all the things said on track may not be written on Questions booklet. So, it is up to you to filter all the unnecessary things out of track and stay guided. A simple trick would be to UNDERLINE the important keywords in the question booklet in the preparation time provided.
And, in my experience, I have found that many students take Section 4 as the difficult one by default and tend to have the same mentality throughout their practice sessions. Remember, it is just relatively difficult but nothing something to worry about.
