Types of pressure
Generally, pressure means force acting per unit area. The pressure can be further studied as the following :
a. Absolute pressure :
It is the pressure measured relative to the pressure of a vacuum or it shows how high, the given pressure is than vacuum pressure.
b. Gauge pressure :
It is the pressure measured relative to the atmospheric pressure or it shows how high, the given pressure is then that of atmosphere.
PGauge = Pabs - Patm
c. Vacuum pressure :
It is the pressure less than atmospheric pressure and is measured relative to atmospheric pressure.
PVacuum = Patm - Pabs
Units of pressure
1 Pa = 1 N/m2
1 KPa = 1000 Pa
1 atm = 101.325 KPa
1 bar = 100 KPa
1 MPa = 106 Pa
