INSTRUCTIONS

In the beginning, we will discuss more about the listening task instructions. Generally, the the instructions in IELTS Listening Tasks are quite common.

For instance, NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS AND/OR A NUMBER.

In the above instruction, one of the most common mistake is the mistake of trying to writing 3 words exactly in the answer sheet. Now, let me tell you how the above instruction needs to be understood.

NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS AND/OR A NUMBER

Above instruction allows you to have 3 kinds of answers.

  1. Upto three words (i.e. it can be one word or two word answer as well)
  2. Upto three words and a number
  3. A number only

Let’s take an example of a question here,

In this particular types of question, you can observe that the answers need to be CORRECT LETTER ,A-F. If you do not pay a close attention you may end up writing the other half of the sentence.Instructions like ONE WORD ONLY, NO MORE THAN TWO WORDS, etc. can be seen in IELTS Listening questions.

Now, this is the last thing to know in this lesson. A selecting from a list kind of question.

Suppose the correct answers are A, B and C. Here, your answers can be written in any order. For example, 25 (C), 26 (B), 27 (A) or something else, as this does not affect your score.

LAST THING FOR NOW

In some cases, you need to write two answers for the same question. In that case, you need to separate your answers by comma or a slash.

To illustrate, Answer1, Answer2 OR Answer/ Answer2
