In reality, Fehling's test and Benedict's test are almost similar. The only difference in these reactions is the Rochelle's salt and Sodium Potassium Citrate.
Fehling’s test
The mixture of copper sulphate, sodium hydroxide and sodium
potassium tartarate or Rochelle’s salt is known as Fehling’s Solution.
Fehling A = CuSO4
Fehling B = NaOH + Rochelle’s Salt
Fehling Solution upon reaction with aliphatic aldehydes
gives red ppt of copper oxide.
Benedict’s test
This mixture of CuSO4, NaOH and Sodium Potassium
citrate is known as Benedict’s solution.
